Pullout section for the annual Athol/Orange, Massachusetts River Rat Race, in which hundreds of folks paddle canoes frantically down the Millers river in early spring, when the Millers river is still about 40 degrees. Lots of people fall in. No one minds, because there is evidently a LOT of drinking. It's the most Oregonian thing I've ever seen out here, thus the "503" boat number - area code for the greater Portland, OR metro area. Of course, about 30 people told me that "there's only about 250 entrants, 503 is WAY too high". Whatever, I was allowed to slip a BANKSY rat head onto a small town newspaper section cover. Nyah.
