In 2007, I did one of my first pullout-section covers at work for the local Agricultural society's annual fair. There's livestock & carnies & fried dough, and when you're good & thirsty you go look at the prize geraniums & apples & stuff. Few things bring me to the level of a giddy 4 year old faster then going through the main gate & seeing the rides & candy apple booths & livestock dung. So I made a cover that tried to convey that. And the agricultural society asked my boss if they could temporarily poach me to make the next year's poster. Thus the effort above. The crazier versions were nixed, and in a sense the committee sort of chose the safest option, and I'm OK with that. Classic, modern, and a sad nod to Shepherd Fairey. The project extended to various merchandising items sold at the fair - T-shirts & mugs & whatnot.
Meanwhile, the local Chamber of Commerce called & asked for the file. And then called again & said "Um, how do we make a horizontal billboard out of this?" and I said "Oooooh, let me do it!". And so i got to make a billboard.
